The Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA), led by the Director General/CEO, Dr Alice Kande, paid a courtesy call to the Managing Director of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), Esther Ngari, EBS, at the KEBS offices to explore areas of mutual interest and strengthen institutional collaboration.
This engagement is crucial as it helps clarify the relation between standards and qualifications institutions in promoting quality, strengthening compliance and supporting effective implementation of standards across relevant sectors.
Discussions focused on quality standards, the management of qualifications in the quality management field, stakeholder engagement through conferences and joint webinars, and improving access to national standards.
The KEBS team briefed the KNQA delegation on the processes governing public access to national standards gazetted by the Bureau. The two institutions agreed to continue engagements to explore practical arrangements that would improve access to standards especially for implementing stakeholders.
The institutions have also agreed to hold joint webinars with stakeholders in the qualifications space to strengthen their understanding of quality management as well as encourage compliance of various national standards.
Through continued dialogue, KNQA and KEBS seek to foster a more supportive environment for stakeholders working to advance quality assurance and strengthen Kenya’s qualifications and standards systems.
