Leadership Engagement
The Director General/CEO, Dr Alice Kande, joined the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Hon. Julius Migos Ogamba, the Principal Secretary for the State Department for TVET, Dr. Esther Muoria, CEOs of TVET State Agencies, Principals of TVET institutions from across the country, and Chairpersons of Councils/Boards during the quarterly Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions (KATTI) leadership meeting.
Meeting Focus
The forum focused on strengthening Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to enhance the skills and global competitiveness of Kenyan youth for both local and international labour markets.
KNQA’s Contribution
During the engagement, the CEO highlighted KNQA’s mandate and the progress made in implementing the Kenya National Qualifications Framework (KNQF), emphasizing the critical role of training institutions in advancing quality and recognition of qualifications. She urged TVET institutions to register in the National Qualifications Database (NQD) to enhance the credibility of qualifications, facilitate verification and promote the mobility of graduates nationally and internationally.

Government Perspective
The Cabinet Secretary emphasized the importance of industry-based training that would equip learners with practical, job-ready skills. He also urged the institutions to establish flagship training and production enterprises relevant and that responds to their environments to spur economic growth. The Principal Secretary reiterated the need for TVET institutional leaders to remain focused on their mandate of producing industry-ready graduates through strong governance, innovation and accountability.
Strengthening Collaboration
The engagement forms part of the State Department for TVET’s ongoing stakeholder consultations aimed at strengthening collaboration, improving service delivery and ensuring Kenya’s TVET sector continues to produce a skilled workforce that supports national development.
