  • KNQA Leadership, State Department, and Commonwealth of Learning Delegation Hold High-Level Talks with Education CS

Dr. Alice Kande, Director General of the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA), together with Dr. Darius Ogutu, Director at the State Department for Higher Education, and Dr. Betty Ogange, an Education Specialist at the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), led a high-level delegation in paying a courtesy call on the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Mr. Julius Ogamba.
Prior to this engagement, Dr. Kande had also paid a courtesy call on the Principal Secretary for Higher Education, Dr. Beatrice Inyangala, where they exchanged views on strengthening collaboration between the Ministry, KNQA, and stakeholders in advancing the national qualifications framework.
The subsequent meeting with the Cabinet Secretary provided an opportunity to deliberate on strategic issues relating to the harmonization of qualifications in Kenya, the implementation of the Kenya National Qualifications Framework (KNQF), and the progress made towards enhancing flexibility, recognition, and mobility of qualifications across different sectors and regions.
A notable highlight of the discussions was the introduction of Dr. Betty Ogange as part of the Commonwealth of Learning delegation. The COL reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Kenya in advancing innovative approaches to education and training, particularly through the development of a National Micro-Credentials Framework. This framework is expected to broaden access to skills recognition, address the dynamic needs of the labor market, and provide learners with more flexible, modular, and industry-relevant learning pathways.
The Cabinet Secretary, Mr. Ogamba, commended the collaboration between KNQA, the State Department, and the Commonwealth of Learning, emphasizing the importance of partnerships in strengthening Kenya’s education system and aligning it with global standards. He further noted that harmonized qualifications and micro-credentials would be key enablers of lifelong learning, employability, and regional competitiveness.
The delegation expressed appreciation for the Ministry’s leadership and assured continued technical support towards building an inclusive, responsive, and future-oriented qualifications framework for Kenya.

We understand the importance of approaching each work integrally and believe in the power of simple.
