Today, the Chairperson of the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) Council, H.E. Stanley Kiptis, EBS, accompanied by the Director General/CEO, Dr. Alice Kande, paid a courtesy call on the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Mr. Julius Migos Ogamba, EGH. Present was the Principal Secretary, State Department for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Dr. Esther Thaara Muoria, CBS.
The engagement aimed to update the Cabinet Secretary on the progress and current status of the Kenya National Qualifications Framework (General) Regulations, 2025. These regulations serve as a key instrument for the full operationalization of the KNQF Act, Cap. 214. They are designed to provide the legal and institutional framework for implementing the KNQF, thereby enhancing coordination, harmonization, and quality assurance across all levels of education and training in Kenya.
During the meeting, the KNQA leadership underscored the significance of the regulations in facilitating lifelong learning pathways, enabling mobility of learners and skilled professionals, and aligning Kenya’s qualifications system with regional and international frameworks. The Cabinet Secretary expressed support to the KNQA, noting the key role of Authority in the Qualifications landscape.
