Today, Tuesday, 16th September, 2025, Dr. Alice Kande, Director General of the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA), joined the Principal Secretary for TVET, Dr. Esther Muoria, at the official opening of a four-day capacity-building workshop on CBET modular curriculum delivery for university TVET institutions, held at Jomo Kenyatta University – Karen Campus.
In her remarks, Dr. Kande emphasized the critical role of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) in articulating clear progression pathways and ensuring credible recognition of skills, competencies, and knowledge acquired through diverse learning processes. She further called upon all stakeholders to actively support the full implementation of the NQF.
On her part, Dr. Muoria underscored the importance of transitioning fully to the CBET modular curriculum, noting that it provides opportunities for training across multiple skill areas, thereby enhancing employability and increasing earning potential. She stressed the need for a paradigm shift in education towards equipping young people with practical skills and competencies. The PS also urged university TVET institutes to embed hands-on training within the modular curriculum and to work collaboratively with industry partners to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
