The Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) congratulates @KCA University on its official registration as a Qualification Awarding Body (QAB) on the National Qualifications Database (NQD) under the Kenya National Qualifications Framework (KNQF). The KNQA Council Chair, Hon Stanley Kiptis, and the Director-General/CEO, Dr. Alice Kande, led staff in presenting the KCA University leadership led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Isaiah I. C. Wakindiki with the QAB Certificate at the university main campus.
The Chair commended KCAU for its commitment to quality and compliance while also calling upon institutions to follow this trend and accelerate compliance with KNQF requirements. He noted that the statistics on the registration of QABs, qualifications as well as graduate records on the NQD indicates a considerable ground to cover to fully implement the KNQF.
On her part, the Director General/CEO also congratulated the university for the milestone noting that the successful registration as a QAB formally anchors the university within the national qualifications system. The CEO also emphasized the importance of revising curricula using notional learning hours to accurately capture the total learner workload in line with KNQF requirements. She noted that the KNQA is working closely with the Commission for University Education (CUE) to ensure alignment in this area.
The CEO took the opportunity to also extend an invite to KCA University to actively participate in the 1st National Qualifications Conference scheduled for 12th to 14th May 2026. This, she noted, will be a critical platform for constructive discourse that would advance the national qualifications agenda.
This milestone reflects the institution’s demonstrated commitment to meeting national standards and aligning qualifications with industry and workforce needs.
The KNQA remains committed to safeguarding the quality, comparability, integrity and recognition of qualifications across the country and beyond. The inclusion of KCA University as a QAB reinforces our shared vision of a demand-driven education and training system that supports lifelong learning and national development.
We continue to onboard institutions on the National Qualifications Database to strengthen the integrity of their academic offerings, and look forward to continued collaboration to ensure that all qualifications awarded within and outside Kenya are trusted and internationally competitive.
