The KNQA Council, led by Chairman Hon. Stanley Kiptis and Director General Dr. Alice Kande, was honored to host the Principal Secretary for TVET, Dr. Esther Muoria, at the official opening of a five-day capacity-building workshop at Sawela Lodge, Naivasha. The retreat aims to apprise the Council on landmark policy documents designed to transform Kenya’s qualifications landscape.
In her remarks, Dr. Alice Kande reaffirmed KNQA’s mandate to provide standards and ensure the seamless translation of national policies into actionable tools for sector regulators and institutions.
Commending the Authority’s progress, PS Dr. Muoria expressed her appreciation for KNQA’s pivotal role in harmonizing the qualifications space to ensure relevance, quality, and global competitiveness. She specifically lauded the development of the Credit Accumulation and Transfer (CATs) policy and the ongoing work on micro-credentials, noting these as essential for modernizing skills recognition. The PS further underscored the need for structured industry-training linkages, urging the Council to bridge the gap between training systems and the labor market to ensure every graduate is “industry-ready.”
