Today, the KNQA Council Chair; Hon Stanley Kiptis graced the World Red Cross Day 2025 as the Chief Guest. Hon. Kiptis was accompanied by the Director General, KNQA Dr. Alice Kande. Present were : The Governor of the Kenya Red Cross Society, Mr. Geoffrey Korir, The Secretary General of the Kenya Red Cross Society, Dr. Ahmed Idris, Senior Management of the Kenya Red Cross Society and the Kenya Red Cross Training Institute.
The event commemorated 60 years of the Red Cross movement’s contribution to humanitarian efforts. It also marked the launch of the KRCTI Institutional Policy and Guidelines for Implementation of RPL, paving way for the institute to begin assessment and certification through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
Following its registration as a Qualification Awarding Body in the Kenya National Qualifications Database,the KRCTI will assess and certify skilled individuals in courses such as Disaster management, Fire Management and Community Health. KRCTI will commence with asssessment of 16 volunteers with a target of assessing and certifying over 250,000 volunteers.
RPL is a key conduit to decent employment and progression through lifelong learning.
