Today, the Chairperson of the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA), Hon. Stanley Kiptis, joined the Principal Secretary for the State Department for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Dr. Esther Muoria, during the inaugural graduation ceremony of Shamberere National Polytechnic. The institution proudly graduated over 1,700 students in a colourful ceremony that marked a major milestone in its academic journey.
A key highlight of the event was the formal launch of Shamberere NP’s registration status with the KNQA. Hon. Kiptis officially handed over the institution’s registration certificate to the Council Chairperson and Chief Principal, Dr. Elisha Nyamu. The symbolic presentation was witnessed by Dr. Muoria, alongside other senior government officials, trainers, parents, and stakeholders from the education and training sector.
In his remarks, Hon. Kiptis lauded the institution’s commitment to aligning with national and international standards through registration with KNQA. He underscored that registration not only enhances the credibility of the institution but also ensures that the qualifications awarded are nationally recognized and globally comparable. This, he noted, significantly improves graduate mobility and employability, both locally and internationally.
“KNQA registration is a mark of quality and compliance. It assures learners, employers, and international partners that the institution meets the requirements set under the Kenya National Qualifications Framework (KNQF). It opens doors for graduates to pursue further education, obtain gainful employment, and even have their skills recognized across borders,” said Hon. Kiptis.
Dr. Muoria congratulated the graduates and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the TVET sector through quality assurance, curriculum reforms, and industry linkages. She also commended KNQA for its role in fostering transparency, accountability, and excellence within the national qualifications system.
Shamberere NP’s registration with KNQA is a key step in enhancing its visibility, trustworthiness, and ability to engage in qualifications recognition both regionally and internationally.
