KNQA CEO Dr. Alice Kande presents the progress and 2025–2027 roadmap for the African Continental Qualifications Framework (ACQF) at the 5th ACQF Forum, taking place in Johannesburg, South Africa from 30th July to 1st August 2025.
This year’s Forum, co-hosted by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), serves as a vital platform for strengthening mutual trust, sharing best practices, and building capacity in areas such as quality assurance, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), and the digitalisation of qualifications.
The Forum’s theme, “Transparency, Comparability, and Mobility Across National and Regional Qualifications Systems,” emphasizes the collective effort to promote skills recognition and support academic and professional mobility across the continent. By bringing together policymakers, technical experts, and training institutions, the Forum actively contributes to achieving the African Union’s vision of an integrated, knowledge-based, and prosperous Africa.
In related developments, the Network’s Presidency elections concluded in April 2025, resulting in a newly elected leadership comprising:
South African Qualifications Authority – Nadia Starr, Chief Executive Officer
Kenya National Qualifications Authority – Dr. Alice Kande, Director General/CEO
Zambia Qualifications Authority – Mercy Ngoma, Director General
Dr. Kande’s participation underscores Kenya’s leadership and continued commitment to the advancement of the continental qualifications agenda through collaboration, innovation, and alignment with global standards.
