  • Harmonizing the Transition: Developing the University Competency-Based Education Framework

This week, KNQA is delighted to participate in a high-level workshop organized by the Commission for University Education (CUE).
The engagement is a milestone in the journey toward defining the University Competency-Based Education Framework (UCBEF)—the roadmap that will prepare our higher education institutions for the 2029 transition of CBC learners.

CEO KNQA – Dr. Alice Kande was honored to share the panel with esteemed colleagues Prof. Charles Ongondo (CEO, KICD), Dr. David Njengere (CEO, KNEC), and the CEO of KISE.

The dialogue centered on a critical reality: as our learners move through the system, our universities must retool, invest in practical, competency-based learning, and evolve their assessment methods.

At KNQA, we are ensuring that the Kenya National Qualifications Framework (KNQF) provides the essential structure and clear pathways to support CBET across all pathways thus ensuring that no learner is left behind; and Promoting mobility so that students can move seamlessly between levels and institutions.
