The Director General/CEO of the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA), Dr. Alice Kande, hosted Prof. Shaukat Abdulrazak, Principal Secretary – State Department for Science, Research and Innovation, who paid a courtesy call.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both institutions to engage on areas of shared mandate and strategic alignment, particularly in strengthening the linkages between qualifications frameworks, research, innovation, recognition of prior learning, and skills development. Key deliberations centered on fostering collaboration between KNQA, the State Department for Science, Research and Innovation, and the State Department for TVET to ensure a more integrated and responsive education and training ecosystem.
The PS was joined by Prof. Dickson Andala, CEO – National Research Fund (NRF) and Dr. David Ngigi, the Ag. Director General/CEO of National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation (NACOSTI).The leaders emphasized the critical role of quality assurance and competency-based training in driving Kenyaโ€™s innovation agenda and global competitiveness. They also explored opportunities to enhance policy coherence that would promote research-driven skills development and support the transition from education to industry.
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to sustained collaboration and agreed to initiate follow-up engagements aimed at translating these discussions into actionable partnerships that will benefit learners and institutions.
