Dr. Alice Kande, Director General/CEO, Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA), accompanied the Principal Secretary for the State Department of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Dr. Esther Muoria, senior officials from the State Department and its Semi-Autonomous Government Agencies (SAGAs), in appearing before the National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Education to present the Supplementary Budget Estimates for the Financial Year 2025/26.
The appearance aligns with constitutional provisions requiring parliamentary approval for government expenditure adjustments.
During the session, the State Department outlined critical funding priorities aimed at strengthening TVET infrastructure, enhancing training programs, and ensuring trainees receive credible, industry-recognized certifications with emphasis on the sector’s central role in equipping Kenya’s youth with practical skills to drive economic growth and employability under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
Dr. Muoria reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and prudent stewardship of public funds, assuring the lawmakers that resources would be managed efficiently to deliver measurable outcomes in technical and vocational education.
The engagement underscores ongoing efforts to strengthen the TVET sector amid efforts to scale enrollment and align qualifications with national development needs.
