The Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) today joined partners at the ICDL Accreditation Certificate Award Ceremony held at the Sarova Hotel, Nairobi—an important milestone in advancing digital literacy and strengthening global ICT standards in Kenya.
The ceremony was graced by distinguished leaders in digital transformation, including Mr. Damien O’Sullivan, CEO of the ICDL Foundation, and Madam Mary Kerema, Secretary for ICT, Digital Economy and Emerging Technologies Directorate, who served as the Chief Guest. Also in attendance were Nairobi County Chief Officer for ICT, Mr. Sande Oyolo, and Mr. Peter Muchendu, Director at Konza Technopolis. Their presence underscored the strong collaboration between national institutions and global digital skills frameworks.
KNQA was represented by Deputy Director Mr. James Tegeret, who reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to enhancing the quality and credibility of Kenya’s digital qualifications. He highlighted the importance of ICDL Accredited Test Centres fully utilizing the National Qualifications Database (NQD) to streamline record keeping, verification, and authentication of qualifications—key pillars in promoting trust, transparency, and mobility within the digital skills ecosystem.
The event also brought together representatives from leading ICDL Accredited Test Centres, including Strathmore University, the Open University of Kenya, IAT, NIBS, and CPL, among others. Their participation reflected the expanding national network of institutions dedicated to offering internationally benchmarked digital skills training.
Beyond celebrating accreditation milestones, the ceremony reaffirmed a shared commitment to equipping learners and professionals with the competencies required to thrive in today’s fast-evolving digital and employment landscape.
