The Malaysia Higher Education Forum (MAHEF) 2025 Africa Education Fair opened today at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Nairobi, graced by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Education, Hon. Julius Migos Ogamba.
The event, themed “Intensifying Internationalization in the Context of the Global South Agenda,” convened key stakeholders to strengthen cross-border collaboration in higher education.
KNQA CEO Dr. Alice Kande joined a high-level panel discussion on the role of National Qualifications Agencies in advancing international recognition, mobility, and portability of qualifications between Kenya and Malaysia. She also highlighted alternative pathways in higher education as provided in the National Qualifications Framework as well as critical components of the framewok such as Recognition of Prior Learning, Credits Accumulation and Transfer, and Micro credentials.
Speaking on mutual recognition, Dr. Kande emphasized that
“Mutual recognition between KNQA and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency is a powerful conduit toward seamless mobility. By aligning our standards and strengthening trust in our systems, we open doors for our learners, enhance skills portability, and build a stronger bridge between our two nations.”
