Earlier today, KNQA CEO Dr. Alice Kande graced the ABMA Education forum convened to explore ways of expanding global learning opportunities for Kenyan students. ABMA Education, an internationally recognised Qualifications Awarding Body with more than 25 years of experience delivering globally relevant qualifications, is registered by the Authority following accreditation by TVETA.
The strategic forum, themed “Enhancing Access to Global Education for Kenyan Students,” took place from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Pride Inn Azure, Westlands, Nairobi. It convened key stakeholders in education, training, and human capital development to explore initiatives that broaden access to ABMA qualifications for Kenyan learners, focusing on accessibility, mobility, and global competitiveness. These efforts align with Kenya’s Vision 2030 and the Government’s commitment to affordable, high-quality, internationally benchmarked education.
In her keynote address, Dr. Kande highlighted the critical role of quality qualifications in driving socio-economic development and strengthening Kenya’s human capital.
“For Kenya to thrive in a globalised economy, our learners must have access to qualifications that are credible, portable, and internationally recognised. This is how we unlock opportunities, promote skills mobility, and prepare a workforce ready to compete and excel anywhere in the world,” she remarked.
She further emphasised the importance of collaboration and innovation in education:
“Building Kenya’s future requires teamwork and strong partnerships across the education and training ecosystem. By leveraging quality qualifications, embracing microcredentials, integrating green skills, and aligning with international frameworks such as the African Continental Qualifications Framework (ACQF), we ensure our learners are globally competitive and their skills internationally recognised. Collaboration is the key to driving a knowledge-based economy and securing international acceptance for Kenya’s qualifications.”
The forum also provided insights into how ABMA Education is supporting Kenyan students through enhanced learning pathways and broader international qualification opportunities, while examining the impact of such initiatives on Kenya’s education system and labour market.
Other notable attendees included Paul Roseveare, Chief Operating Officer at ABMA Education; Margaret Waithaka, Director of Finance, Administration & Marketing at the College of Career Guidance and Development; Dr. Munyi from the State Department for TVET; KENAPCO Chairperson Dr. Ekra Ndung’u; and representatives from various education and training institutions.
The event is expected to strengthen institutional collaboration and contribute to national efforts to harmonise qualifications, enhance student mobility, and expand global learning opportunities for Kenyan youth. KNQA CEO Leads Dialogue on Expanding Global Education Opportunities for Kenyan Youth
