Dr. Alice Kande, KNQA Director General, participated in a consultative retreat of the Senate Standing Committee on Education with the Ministry of Education, held at Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort. The sessions were chaired by Sen. Betty Montet, Committee Chairperson, alongside Sen. Johnes Mwaruma, EGH, Sen. Lenku Ole Kanar Seki, and Sen. Catherine Mumma.
The Ministry of Education delegation was led by Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba and included Dr. Beatrice Inyangala, Principal Secretary for Higher Education; representatives from the State Departments of TVET and Basic Education; as well as Chief Executive Officers and Director Generals of agencies under the Ministry.
Key issues discussed during the retreat included the university financing model, the foundational learning policy and guidelines, the status of Competency-Based Education (CBE) implementation in basic education, and the roll-out of TVET policies.
