This afternoon,  17th September, 2025 , the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) convened a consultative meeting with stakeholders at its Headquarters to deliberate on the integration of micro-credentials into the Kenya National Qualifications Framework (KNQF). The discussion aimed to advance flexible learning as a pathway to building a skilled and inclusive Kenya and brought together key stakeholders to exchange insights on how micro-credentials can bridge skills gaps, enhance employability, and strengthen opportunities for skilling and reskilling.

During the presentations and deliberations, the significance of embedding micro-credentials within the KNQF was highlighted to ensure quality assurance, recognition, and well-defined progression education and training pathways. Discussions emphasized the urgency of developing a coherent and inclusive national policy framework that will equip learners with job-relevant skills, support industry growth, and contribute to national development.

Stakeholders reaffirmed the significance of adopting micro-credentials in Kenya as a strategic approach to promoting flexible learning and aligning education with evolving industry needs.

Participants included representatives from the Commonwealth of Learning, State Department for TVET, State Department of Basic Education, State Department for Higher Education, Universities, International Labour Organization, TVETA, TVET CDACC, NITA, KISEB, CPST and KSG.
