KNQA Deputy Director, Mr. James Tegeret, represented the CEO, Dr. Alice Kande, during the official launch of the National Career Guidance Training Programme presided over by the Principal Secretary, State Department for TVET, Dr. Esther Muoria, at Kabete National Polytechnic.
The programme is a key government initiative designed to strengthen career guidance and counselling services across Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions. It seeks to provide learners with accurate, timely, and practical career information that aligns with Kenya’s labour market needs.
Speaking during the launch, the PS underscored the importance of structured career guidance in helping young people make informed choices, improve employability, and transition effectively into the workforce. She noted that the programme complements ongoing government efforts to promote TVET as a pathway to skills development and national productivity.
KNQA, as a key partner, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the initiative by ensuring that career guidance frameworks are aligned to the Kenya National Qualifications Framework (KNQF). This alignment will guarantee that learners receive guidance that reflects not only industry trends but also recognition of qualifications and pathways for progression.
The National Career Guidance Training Programme is expected to have far-reaching benefits, including reducing skills mismatches, promoting lifelong learning, and preparing Kenyan youth to thrive in both local and global labour markets.
